Japan & APAC Communications Senior Manager
Communication - Tokyo, Japan
At TomTom…
There’s never been a more exciting time to join TomTom. That’s because we are transforming fast, and so is our story. We’re working on smart mobility, autonomous driving and connected vehicles, on innovative devices that change the way people drive, and on partnerships with some of the best-loved companies in the world.
That’s why we’re looking for a highly productive communications specialist to join our proactive and ambitious Global Marcom team.
What you’ll do
The Japan & APAC Communications Senior Manager role will sit within the Global MarCom team, working with a team of experts in Amsterdam and around the globe, to tell the TomTom story across external channels.
You’ll know how to influence people – journalists, analysts, bloggers, vloggers and customers too.
You speak Japanese fluently and may even understand Korean or Mandarin.
Critically, you’re super-organized, willing to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in – and you’re also willing to roll with changes when you least expect them.
* Help shape and support the execution of our corporate, brand, business unit and product communications strategy in Japan and other key APAC markets.
* Manage key influencer (media, analysts…) relationships in Japan and other key APAC markets, working with our PR agency in Tokyo.
* Develop external communications copy for social media, press releases, blogs, presentations material for events and webinars, etc.
* Provide marketing and communications counselling and expertise to our senior management and colleagues in Japan & APAC.
* Work closely with our customers, partners and suppliers in Japan to raise awareness of TomTom and its products (e.g. develop co-branded marketing material with automakers and tier 1 suppliers).
* Train spokespeople and manage speaker opportunities.
* Help coordinate our PR agencies, ensuring they are delivering against KPIs.
* Proactively identify, share and make recommendation on news and issues that TomTom should have a voice in.
* Coordinate the attendance at influential 3rd party events/webinars and the organization of TomTom’s own local physical and virtual events.
What we expect from you
So, who are you? You’re a people person, a multi-tasker, and a great storyteller. You have experience working across a broad range of communications channels, and you know where and how to reach your audience most effectively. You have a global view, and a local sensitivity. You’re detail oriented and just as interested diving into big tech issues, as you are in simplifying them.
* 8+ year’s international/regional communications experience.
* Preference for B2B communications experience with knowledge of the automotive and software media landscapes.
* Excellent spoken and written English. Native writing skills in Japanese.
* Proficiency in Korean and/or Mandarin would be a plus.
* A global view – and the cultural sensitivity that goes with it.
* The ability to learn fast, work fast, and adapt fast, under pressure.
* Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR or a related field preferred.
