REFILE-PRECIOUS-Gold ticks up in volatile trade; bullion premiums steady

SINGAPORE, Feb 20 (Reuters) - Gold edged up in choppy trade
on Thursday as the U.S. dollar gave up gains, while demand from
the physical sector also underpinned prices.
But expectations the U.S. Federal Reserve would maintain the
pace of a withdrawal of monetary stimulus may diminish gold's
investment appeal as a hedge against inflation.
The precious metal sank to a six-month low on Dec. 31 on
prospects for a global economic recovery.
Gold hit a low of $1,308.34 an ounce on a firmer
dollar before rising as high as $1,314.70 as the U.S. currency
changed course. It stood at $1,313.40 by 0723 GMT, up $2.15.
Bullion crossed the psychological level of $1,300 this
month, but gains have been capped at a 3-1/2 month high of
$1,332.10 hit on Tuesday.
"It's still rangebound for gold. It's broken a few tiers but
at the moment, it's still capped within $1,330," said Brian Lan,
managing director of GoldSilver Central Pte Ltd in Singapore.
"What we can see is that it should correct a little because
the rise has been too sharp," said Lan, who pegged key support
at $1,305 an ounce.
But dealers expected jewellers to buy on dips while India's
plan to keep tax on gold imports at current levels could
underpin sentiment in the physical market as it will lead to
more smuggling.
Gold demand in India is expected to be robust in 2014 and
likely to encourage an increase in smuggling if curbs on bullion
imports remain, the World Gold Council has said.
U.S. gold futures fell $6.90 an ounce to $1,313.50
an ounce.

Premiums for gold bars in Singapore were mostly steady from
last week at $1.20-$1.50 an ounce to spot London prices. Dealers
noted buying from jewellers in Indonesia, while Thailand sold
some scraps to Singapore.
Premiums for gold bars were also steady in Hong Kong at
$1.30 to $1.70 to the spot London prices.
"I've got some light demand from Indonesia but it's more for
factories and not for investment. Thailand has been quite slow
since the beginning of last week," said a dealer in Singapore.
"Business in Thailand has been hit by the unrest. People are
complaining."
A Thai court endorsed on Wednesday Prime Minister Yingluck
Shinawatra's declaration of a state of emergency, a day after
five people were killed in gunbattles in Bangkok, but warned the
government not to use it to disperse peaceful protesters.

The protests are the latest instalment of an eight-year
political battle broadly pitting the Bangkok middle class and
royalist establishment against the mostly rural supporters of
Yingluck and Thaksin.
In other markets, Asian stocks tumbled on Thursday and the
yen firmed as a survey painted a grim picture of China's
manufacturing sector, heightening uncertainty about the outlook
for the region's economic powerhouse.
The dollar index was down 0.1 percent at 80.141. It
had recovered from this year's low 79.927 to hit 80.235 on
Wednesday after minutes from a U.S. Federal Reserve policy
meeting showed policymakers remained committed to reducing its
stimulus at the current pace.

Gold Futures--- Gold futures for the April contract opened up $6 on the night session currently trading at 1,323 an ounce & in my opinion I think higher prices are headed especially on Friday as lately the commodity and stock markets have all been higher going into the weekends and I expect the same pattern in tomorrow’s trade. Gold futures were down about $15 on the session low but rallied towards the close as investors continue to buy dips as prices still remain above their 20 & 100 day moving average and I think you’ll see higher prices in tomorrow’s trade.

Goud gat weer lekker door naar 1330. Moet zich nog vertalen in een opkomende koers van de aandelen. Wie ook boicot, Azie blijft kopen de mijnaandelen gaan zeker op korte termijn 30 % stijgen. Wie niet koopt nu is gezien.

Goudmijn aandelen reeds 24 % gestegen. Is nog maar begin. Zie naar de koers nu en de koers in het verleden. Gold fields ston 8 euro vorig jaar en nu gestegen v an 2.30 naar 2.93. Nog een eind te gaan. Vergeet positieve en negatieve analisten. Sommigen willen de koers van het goud laag houden maar zelfs de grote jongens gaan er niet in slagen.Kunnen het nog laag houden en laag inkopen maar niet meer voor lang. Gaan binnenkort met de raket naar de stratosfeer. Gold fiels zonder tegenstand naar 4,5 euro op korte termijn.

Beste beleggers in goud,
Daarnet heb ik mijn eerste aandelen in een goudmijn gekocht: Lake Shore Gold. Dit aandeel is een maand geleden door Willem Middelkoop getipt, koers was toen 0,58 Can. dollar, ik heb ze echter nu pas gekocht op 0,93 Can. dollar. Ik wil ook nog aandelen in een ander goudmijnbedrijf kopen maar ik ben hier helemaal niet in thuis en op dit draadje zie ik bedroevend weinig inhoudelijke informatie over goudmijnbedrijven. Zijn er hier mensen die informatie kunnen geven over welke goudmijnbedrijven kansrijker zijn dan andere, en zo ja waarom? Of waarom jullie gekozen hebben voor bepaalde bedrijven en niet voor andere? Meanwhile, gold backing exchange-traded products increased again on Friday, according to FastMarkets data, with 2.6 tonnes lifting the total to $1,733.39 tonnes. Should this trend continue and February closes with higher total holdings than January, it would be the firstly monthly up close since 2012.

More cues for gold should be available later in the day when the US releases its home price index and consumer confidence. A recovery in the US economy and data, due later in the day and which could point to where the economy is heading, will keep the market quiet for a major part of the day.

“So far gold’s resilience has surprised me,” Marex Spectron’s David Govett said. “We have dipped off a few times, but these dips have been met by some good buying, and certainly some of the large selling that was so evident last year seems to have disappeared.” Govett did, however, warn that the Shanghai premium has fallen flat, and that doesn’t bode well for those who believe that Chinese buying will save the gold market.

The latest rise could be a move to safety ahead of economic numbers in the coming weeks that some expect to be weak. Uncertainty in Ukraine, Venezuela and Egypt are also to blame for the jitters that tend to draw investors to gold.

BoE doet alles eraan om dit te voorkomen.
Hopelijk verliest de BoE vanmiddag de strijd om goud.

as we speak gaat de goudkoers door de 1340 en er zit meer in het vat: zekerheid, dollar zwak en de chinezen kopen niet voor niks. Big reset bezig?

Aan het einde van elke maand proberen "ze" de goudprijs te onderdrukken om fysieke levering van goud door investeerders te ontmoedigen.

Geen grote negatieve manipulatie (20-30 dollar daling in zeer korte tijd) meer dankzij BaFin (Duitse toezichthouder voor de financiële markten).
Kleine negatieve manipulatie kan de stijging van de goudprijs alleen maar vertragen.
