AIRSPRAY FOAMERS GAIN ACCEPTANCE IN GLOBAL PET CARE MARKET
Airspray’s instant-foam dispensing technology is making rapid inroads in the dynamic worldwide pet
care market, and innovative new product applications for shampoos, disinfectants and other products represent the first steps in a rapidly
accelerating industry.
Industry statistics depict explosive growth for pet care products, particularly on the high end of the market. This trend echoes the earliest stages of instant-foam growth in personal care products, where product manufacturers in mature segments looked for methods of providing new excitement, functionality and “value-added.”
Although Pet care only accounts for a few percent of the total sales mix and no impact is expected on the outlook for the company, in Europe a
number of leading pet care product companies have already launched “powered by Airspray” instant foam shampoos, including Nestle Purina(Friskies and Gourmet brands), ICF, Medinet, Vitacraft and Teknofarma.
In addition to “personal pet care” for dogs and cats, horse owners are addressed as well, with the introduction of IV Horse foaming cleanser in the
UK. Airspray dispensing technology – and the industry’s broadest line-up of foamers – allows companies to create new products that are dependable, highly functional and extremely easy to use, wet or dry. Now, the company has set its sights on U.S. manufacturers.
“We see the U.S. pet care market as a particularly dynamic growth area,” says David Stob, Airspray Director - Business Development. “While only about a third of all U.S. households have a child less than 18 years, 63 percent of all households have at least one pet.” In addition, Stob notes U.S. Census figures that show consumers spent
a record $36 billion on pet products and services, more than doubling the level of 10 years ago.
Expenditures on supplies alone account for $8.8 billion, more than the amount spent on veterinary care ($8.6 billion). Premium products – and those
positioned as “natural/organic” – have quickly become “must-haves” for indulgent pet owners. Further, these products are more readily available, in more retail channels, than ever before. “We look forward to working with innovative, first-tier product manufacturers to continue to develop tomorrow’s exciting new instant foambased pet care products, in the U.S. and around the world,” Stob says.
