GLPG does not believe ABBV’s internal JAK is as specific for JAK1 (based on their internal work to recreate that product based on patent information for ABBV’s product)

filgotinib supports in-licensing by AbbVie with a base valuation of
$43/share. Cystic Fibrosis adds $30/share, where the Galapagos
portfolio positions it to compete with leader Vertex. Unlicensed
pipeline represents higher-risk upside.
Initiate at OW, $73 PT: Galapagos offers a differentiated pipeline with access
to large market opportunities including the $15B rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
market and $10B+ cystic fibrosis (CF) market. Galapagos was built as a
discovery platform which has allowed management to build a broad pipeline.
The two leading pipeline projects are filgotinib, a selective JAK1 inhibitor for
RA and Crohn's disease and a library of CFTR modulators that can correct
underlying genetic defects which cause CF. Both assets are partnered with
AbbVie, incl. a mid-teens to low twenties royalty. We value Galapagos based
on a DCF model to filgotinib patent expiration with no terminal value.
Phase IIb DARWIN data demonstrates best in class profile of filgotinib
and support $3B in peak sales: Initial 12 week data from the DARWIN1 and
DARWIN2 datasets were released in April. The data suggests that filgotinib
achieved disease reductions in excess of the other competing oral agents
without similar toxicities, especially anemia. While existing oral agents such as
Pfizer's Xeljanz have failed to gain significant traction, our physician calls
suggest this is due to (a) lack of favorable insurance coverage due to Pfizer's
pricing strategy, (b) safety/tolerability of Xeljanz and (c) some trepidation
among physicians to use new agents. We do not believe AbbVie will make
similar commercial mistakes and see the differentiated profile of filgotinib as
supporting above consensus sales.
Early preclinical data supports upside potential from CF; 2016 a key
derisking year: While Vertex is the clear leader in CFTR therapy, Galapagos is
the only other company we know of with all the building blocks to compete for
the heterozygote (~40% of patients) market. It's potentiator (GLPG1837) is in
the clinic currently and the two correctors (GLPG2222, C2) will enter in
2015/2016, positioning Galapagos on a potentially similar timeline with Vertex
(albeit at higher risk) for a triple therapy in CF.
Our near-term stance: AbbVie licensing decision, filgotinib in Crohn's
disease key milestones. While we expect AbbVie to license filgotinib, if
AbbVie does not license filgotinib, there is significant downside potential. In a
range of valuation scenarios we see $10-18/share of downside without an
AbbVie license, though we acknowledge GLPG would likely overshoot given

Behind filgotinib, Galapagos has a portfolio of cystic fibrosis potentiators and
correctors being developed with partner AbbVie. In preclinical assays GLPG has
generated data which suggest that its potentiators and correctors could be among
the most potent in development or on the market. Lead potentiator GLPG1837 is in
Phase I trials, with data expected during Q3:15. Galapagos is expected to also have
two correctors in the clinic by mid-2016, implying that Galapagos is among the leaders
to develop a triple combination regimen for the treatment of F508del cystic fibrosis
patients, a $5B+ market.

Een serieuze vraag die een beetje onder is gesneeuwd in het andere topic. Op de website van Galapagos staat dat de darwin1 24-weeks resultaten nog in q2 komen en darwin2 early q3. Over het algemeen wordt echter gesproken dat alles in q3 komt, wat is nu juist?

Hartelijk dank voor wederom een verhelderende reactie. Je bent als topicstarter echt een voorbeeld voor velen met je inhoudelijke reacties. Kijk eens in de spiegel, jij bent een week geschorst of hoe dat hier ook heet, ik niet, zegt genoeg lijkt me.

De info over bekendmaking is tegenstrijdig, vandaar de interesse hierin, inderdaad heb ik forse optiebelangen so what. Het kan oneindig gecommuniceerd worden, de info is tegenstrijdig en ik ben benieuwd welke info nou klopt. Op de website van galapagos bij faqs wordt gesproken over eind q2, elders over q3.

Geen presentatie geloof ik, maar wel dus de publicaties zoals hier eerder vermeld. Ik ga ervan uit dat er medewerkers van Galapagos aanwezig zullen zijn.

Galapagos is a clinical-stage biotech company focused on developing a novel mode of action medicines. With patents for AbbVie's (NYSE:ABBV) Humira beginning to expire in 2016, many market participants view Galapagos's GLPG0634 as the next-generation product that will hit the market. GLPG0634 is much easier to administer, as it is a pill while Humira is an injectable. Investor interest in Galapagos and GLPG0634 increased on April 14 when the company announced that GLPG0634 met primary and other key efficacy endpoints in a Phase 2b trial called DARWIN 1 in patients with moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis. En wat is nu precies het verschil tussen Hom en Het F508del? Van de wereldwijde markt voor Hom zou Gala 1 miljard van de 6 miljard kunnen binnen hengelen en van de markt voor Het zou dat 2 tot 3 miljard van de 5 miljard zijn. Zouden beiden met dezelfde triple combi behandeld kunnen worden of zijn daar aparte combi's voor nodig? En waarom is er maar een relatief klein deel van de Hom markt voor Gala en een groot deel van de Het markt?
Vind het leuk dat het nieuws nu eens niet alleen maar over Filgotinib gaat, maar het CF programma is voor mij nog lang niet duidelijk. Hoop op wat verduidelijking.
