Onderstaande is update van W, sluit redelijk aan op wat hierboven geschreven is.
TOMTOM update
- Google will provide Android to the Renault-Nissan-Mtsubishi Alliance
conclusion: negative
- the RNM alliance announced that from 2021 onwards it will use the Androis system for ts customer infotainment interface, this includes Google maps and assistance
- first time that a big OEM integrates Android deep into the infotainment system ( others made the proprietary system compatible with Android and IOS)
OEMs were hesitant earlier to use Android as they feared the use cud result in commoditization of the car interface ( as happened in the smart phone mkt)
the usuability of Google maps is much better than the average inbuilt system and hence for customers of the RNM alliance it makes sense
- Renault is a key client of TT, next to FIAT and PSA, we estilate RNM at 20% max of TT's auto revenue this being 2.5% of group sales
key risk is that others cud also move to Google in the future
the replacement to Gogle will be phased by model from 2021 onwards
- using Android does not exclude TT as a client
TT's most recent contract win with Volvo ( active from 2019 onwards) also uses Android as the basis of its infotainment an still uses TT as the standard map provider
- Key value driver for te future value of the maps for TT : is the HD-MAP
this is the map to be integrated in the driving system of the car and will be crucial for ADAS and increasing levels of autonomous driving
Contrary to the consumer interface with Google
The RNM alliance is working together with MSFT Azure to ntegrate the location based services in the driving system of the car
Since 2017 MSFT Azure is a partner of TT

this stock is for the long haul
