Toch wel. De koers gaat voor de tigste keer naar 8,xx om vervolgens weer te pendelen naar de 7,5x.
De vraag is. Wie gaat h'm een keer door de 8,xx drukken naar de 9? En wanneer en hoe?

'Self-aware' car launched at CES 2019 (met dank aan TT)

Fans of the sentient, singing trains in Philip Reeve's Rail Head science fiction tale will be disappointed with Delphi's somewhat overstated exhibit at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the "self-aware car", although in reality it is much better than the usual sci-fi fantasy fare usually served up at this frenetic early-year event.

"It's more smart than self-aware," admits Mary Gustanski, Delphi's chief technical officer, but the project does have considerable feet-on-the-ground merit, proposing a powertrain controller that knows what's around the corner and adjusts speed, braking and systems accordingly.

So Delphi says its latest intelligent driving technology presages "self-aware" cars in the near future, but has it got more to offer in the here and now?

Many car makers and original equipment manufacturers are busy creating intelligent driving systems for convenience, efficiency and safety, but few of such set-ups talk to each other and fewer are aware of the environment in which they operate.

So gradients, red traffic signals, speed-limit changes, curves and even your destination might all change the way in which the car proceeds to improve fuel consumption, but at the moment few vehicles are able to combine all external inputs to effect such powertrain efficiencies.

“We can take all of that data and apply it to our propulsion system to make for a better system that provides more range for an internal combustion engine, a hybrid, or an electric vehicle,” explains Gustanski. "The same technology that made phones smart can make cars intelligent.”

Up to now there's been an issue with the sheer amount of information generated by sensors; up to a terrabyte of data per hour per sensor.

"It becomes a data analytic problem," says Gustanski, but she says that by talking to the firms responsible for each of the systems, Delphi has been able to take only what information its powertrain controller requires to plan the car's journey ahead, which considerably reduces the system's data loading.

"The benefits we could use on the vehicles of today just as much as they could be used on vehicles of the future," she says. "We're trying to establish partnerships to allow collaboration in vehicle computer development and to establish the connectivity between systems. Effectively we're saying to companies; 'If you give us this information, this is what we can do'."

Gustanski says that while the driver remains in control ("We're not doing automated cars here," she stresses), these linked systems could save up to 10 per cent in fuel economy, reduce congestion and journey times, as well as provide environmental benefits deriving from smoother traffic flows.

She also says that while the main beneficiaries of such systems would be fleet users, individuals could also save money and have a shorter less stressful journey if such systems were adopted.

Zodra de 2 blokjes van 750 op de laat worden weggehaald mag het weer iets hoger.... daarna gaat weer even de rem erop.

Another technology is "ADAS CAM," a camera incorporating a technology called Advanced Driver Assistance Systems that is based on deep learning algorithms, Naver said.

Naver said it will also showcase a "Hybrid HD map" that is based on Naver Lab's autonomous driving and mapping technology that provides mapping solutions by combining aerial images and information from road surfaces.

Naver Labs is focused on developing technologies in areas such as AI, autonomous driving and robotics. The company further made inroads into Europe in 2017 by acquiring the Xerox Research Centre Europe in France.

Volgens Antoine zit TT nog in alle Iphones. Tevens doen ze nog zaken met Mitsubish tot 2021. Ik denk dat TT het in Japan moet laten zien.

Yahoo had ook Google kunnen kopen maar dat zat toentertijd ook niet in haar DNA. We weten allemaal hoe het is afgelopen. Ik zie die Tim Cook dan ook meer als een veredelde accountant dan een visionair.

Uiteindelijk moet je overnames doen anders verlies je je voorsprong.

Ook weer schrijnend dat die Wall Street personen alleen maar Amerikaanse bedrijven kunnen denken.

Het plaatsen van al die persberichten (vandaag bv ook over Imagry) vind ik totaal oninteressant als je (zo komt het althans op mij over) de artikelen niet gelezen/onthouden hebt. Je komt niet verder dan “mogelijk slecht voor TomTom” maar ik mis een echte analyse om dat te onderbouwen.

Obscure start-ups in VS zullen je wel dankbaar zijn:). Er wordt hier op het forum buiten proportioneel veel aandacht besteed aan bv Civil Maps. Wist jij dat dit bedrijf zich voorstelt op de eigen website middels 3 youtube filmpjes waarvan de oudste van mei 2017 redelijk bekeken is (bijna 18000 views) en de meest recente van juni 2018 nog geen 1300 views heeft? Laatste “nieuws” dateert van mei 2018. Op Twitter laatste tweet over een bedrijfsuitje van augustus 2018. Er staat 1 vacature open voor een markting manager. Geen upcoming events op de perskalender. Totale funding Civil Maps tot nu toe iets van $9 mln. Heb het idee dat de stekker er bijna uitgaat. Dat Imagry waar je het vanochtend over hebt heeft iets van $7 mln funding opgehaald.....peanuts.

Zijn gewoon startups waarvan zo’n 90% faalt. En toch lees ik in het weekend ook hier op dit draadje over de “dreiging van nieuwe toetreders”. Helemaal niets mis mee om als belegger in TT het speelveld goed in de gaten te houden maar het moet wel in perspectief gezet worden als je het mij vraagt. Dan wordt ook niet een Civil Maps op 1 hoop gegooid met DeepMap om maar iets te noemen.

Natuurlijk kan NVIDIA met nieuws komen over (nieuwe) partners. Dat lees ik dan graag maar liever niet al die oude koeien:).
