Stellantis estimates that 80 percent of software platforms can be shared among brands, with 20 percent requiring brand-specific software—mostly related to user interfaces.

A key software goal is decoupling software from hardware platforms. Hardware-software decoupling has become standard procedure due to its many advantages. The latest advantage is the potential to swap out chips when supply chains are disrupted.

Stellantis is clearly aiming to own a significant portion of its software value chain for all of its brands. Nearly all auto OEMs are on this path, adding software expertise to their core competencies.

An important factor in value creation is the ability to perform over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Stellantis has executed more than 6 million OTA updates so far in 2021. Most updates are aimed at Chrysler brands.

It is also seeking to use software as a brand differentiator: Easily said, but harder to do, especially since most auto OEMs use similar tactics.

The innovative product will combine TomTom’s expertise in hybrid navigation and industry-leading traffic services, with CARIAD’s competences in premium user experience and vehicle integration. This multi-year deal between TomTom and the Volkswagen Group covers all markets globally excluding China and is the continuation of a successful and long cooperation: TomTom has been a trusted traffic service partner for the Volkswagen Group for many years.

CARIAD, which is working on software and hardware platforms for all Volkswagen Group brands, will develop the navigation UI/UX as well as the map visualization, creating a unique navigation experience for the customers of Volkswagen Group brands. Volkswagen’s new software house aims to integrate the navigation tightly into its vehicle platforms providing a seamless operation across infotainment and the most advanced driver assistance systems. Een dag na zo’n deal zou je meer handel verwachten …… na 2 uur 110k en regelmatig 10min lang geen handel is bizar ……. Het boek is zo goed als leeg aan beide kanten …. Het kan dus alle kanten op maar het mag niet te hard omhoog lijkt het …….

Nog steeds geen deuken in mijn strategie.

TT maakt INDIGO bekend en de samenwerking met de Volkswagen group :-)

Het is nu nog erg moeilijk om ons marktpotentieel concreet te vertalen naar cashflow en marktaandeel, maar dat is wel wat analisten en aandeelhouders willen horen.

Ik wil het ook wel horen, maar dan gaat de strategie veranderen.

Voor mij is de strategie !

Tom Tom gaat voor ik schat rond de 10 miljard naar Microsoft.

Maar Microsoft gaat pas schakelen, als TT, bepaalde cijfers en of marktaandeel laat zien.

Nog geen cijfers en of concreet marktaandeel, dan ook een koers navenant.

Nu via via aandelen verzamelen, dus straks TT goedkoper.

Binnen 3 jaar een strategische belang voor Microsoft, TT wordt dan niet goedkoper, maar het werkt wel tegenover derden die ook over een bod nadenken.

Om BDB niet te veel te vermoeien, laat ik het hierbij.

Heerlijk als je er 6 niet kunt lezen :-)

Er is nog steeds hedgefund activiteit. Eergisteren flink omlaag voorafgaand aan vw deal. Het gaat steeds drie stappen vooruit en twee stappen terug. Op naar CES.

Deze nemen de vorm aan van abonnementsgelden, royalty’s, lijfrentes in ruil voor het verstrekken van licenties en rechten om hun eigen MaaS-, PaaS- en SaaS-digitale aanbiedingen te gebruiken. Abonnementsgelden, royalty’s en lijfrentebetalingen droegen samen meer dan 90% van hun bedrijfsopbrengsten voor fiscaal 2021 bij. Aangezien de meeste van hun producten, platforms en oplossingen digitaal zijn, intern worden gecreëerd, vervolgens worden geïmplementeerd en geleverd aan de cloud, is het bedrijf als onderneming lichtgewicht activa, met een relatief lage variabele kostenbasis. Dit stelt hen in staat om een ??hoge operationele hefboomwerking in het bedrijf te hebben. Voor fiscaal 2021 bedroeg hun contributiemarge 83%, de EBITDA-marge 35% en de PAT-marge 31%.

Op korte termijn kan koers best dalen doordat laag volume wijst op minder kopers interesse na een mooie opmars. De spikes zijn ook weg. Maar het vertrouwen in tomtom is wel sterk toegenomen.

Tot voor kort hoorden we verhalen als dat het nadelig is dat veel autofabrikanten naar Android overstappen. Nu is het ineens voordelig, omdat men indigo kent. En eerst werd er met argwaan gekeken wat Cariad allemaal doet voor Volkswagen group en nu blijkt tomtom er diep bij hen in te zitten.

Door dat soort dingen zie je ook het ‘verhaal’ tomtom veranderen. Al zijn er ook een hoop no-no’s, zeg maar niveautje RTLZ en doodsteek, die het niet snappen. Cariad is echt een grote move en plaatst tomtom weer middenin de Duitse car inc. waar het ook zat voordat HERE werd overgenomen. Als je de juiste dingen doet komen ze wel bij je terug.

Ik verwacht vandaag of morgen wel wat reuring in de Duitse pers nav de deal irt HERE…..alleen maar goed……..over die HERE SPAC lees je ook niets meer……. Heeft alleen in Manager Magazine gestaan en niemand anders duikt erop………

Waarschijnlijk omdat de founders het eerst zelf van de beurs willen graaien voordat Tomtom ook maar een euro winst gaat maken?
