Ik denk dat arcelormittal de enige eigenaar zal zijn van dit bedrijf en niet de joint-venture met nippon steel omdat arcelormittal de schulden heeft betaald destijds om essar te mogen inlijven samen met nippon steel.

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLT), Mumbai has approved the Rs 4,050-crore resolution plan submitted by an Indian arm of global steel behemoth Arcelor Mittal for debt-ridden Uttam Galva Steels, multiple industry sources familiar with the matter told Moneycontrol. The detailed copy of the tribunal’s order is awaited.

This is Arcelor Mittal’s third purchase through the insolvency process in India after Essar Steel and Odisha Slurry Pipeline Infrastructure. The firm could not be contacted for an immediate comment.

In October 2020, the NCLT had admitted an insolvency petition against Uttam Galva in a plea filed by State Bank of India. In June, 2021, the lenders of the indebted firm had unanimously approved the resolution plan submitted by the Lakshmi Mittal promoted steelmaker. Other rivals like JSW Steel and Jindal Steel & Power had also submitted expressions of interest earlier for Uttam Galva.

In 2018, when ArcelorMittal's bid for Essar Steel was being considered, the apex court had held that the steel giant would have to clear all non-performing loans of companies where it held stakes. Subsequently, the firm cleared dues of many lenders of Uttam Galva Steels and become its largest creditor. It also sold its 30 percent stake back to Uttam Galva's promoters to be eligible for the Essar Steel bid.

Koersdoelen neerwaarts bijgesteld.

(ABM FN-Dow Jones) Jefferies heeft maandag de koersdoelen voor ArcelorMittal en Aperam verlaagd.

Voor ArcelorMittal ging het koersdoel van 38,00 naar 33,00 euro, bij handhaving van het koopadvies, terwijl voor Aperam het koersdoel werd verlaagd van van 30,00 naar 26,00 euro bij een onveranderd Houden advies.

In aanloop naar de cijfers over het derde kwartaal, verlaagden analisten van Jefferies de taxaties voor de koolstof- en roestvrijstaalprijzen. "De derdekwartaalcijfers van staalreuzen zullen tussen de extreme kwartalen zitten", zo voorzien de marktvorsers. "In het tweede kwartaal van dit jaar waren er nog recordmarges, terwijl het vierde kwartaal doorgaans gepaard gaat met een seizoensgebonden en cyclisch zwakke vraag en hogere energieprijzen."

De analisten zien neerwaartse risico's voor de EBITDA-consensus voor de meeste staalreuzen die zij volgen en voor ArcelorMittal en Aperam zit Jefferies met zijn taxaties onder de consensus.

Jefferies geeft voor wat betreft de Europese staalsector de voorkeur aan aandelen als Tenaris en Vallourec.

Het aandeel Aperam sloot vrijdag op 24,89 euro en ArcelorMittal op 21,66 euro.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Replaces Caisson of Converter No 2

Ukrainian steelmaker ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has replaced the caisson of converter No 2 in the converter workshop. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih said “Employees of the converter workshop, taking advantage of incomplete capacity loading and forced downtime of a number of units, perform equipment restoration work. At the beginning of October, the caisson on the second converter was replaced.”

The unit is used for removal and primary cooling of converter gases, which are then sent to the gas purifiers through a shielded gas pipe. The weight of the caisson reaches 30 tonnes, the diameter is 4 meters and the length is 11 meter.

The replacement of the caisson is the first significant step towards the restoration of converter No 2, which is currently in reserve. The previous unit, which had served its term, was removed with the help of electric bridge cranes, and a working one, repaired by the workers of the steel construction workshop, was installed in its place.

Is wel interessant dat dividend van Rio, hun koersontwikkeling lijkt overigens wel op AM; dobberen vanaf juni.

ArcelorMittal (NYSE:MT) and Sasol (NYSE:SSL) said Tuesday they will collaborate on research into using green hydrogen for carbon capture technology and steel production.

Sasol (SSL) is the world's biggest producer of fuel products and chemicals from coal, and ArcelorMittal South Africa (MT) is Africa's biggest steel producer; both companies are targeting net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Sasol (SSL) said the companies plan to jointly advance a green hydrogen and derivatives study on the Saldanha region's potential as an export hub for green hydrogen and derivatives, as well as green steel production.

The companies plan to study the use of renewable electricity and green hydrogen to convert captured carbon from ArcelorMittal's (MT) Vanderbijlpark steel plant into sustainable fuels and chemicals.

The initiatives could result in ArcelorMittal South Africa (MT) becoming Africa's first green flat steel producer using green hydrogen from the Saldanha works, which are currently under care and maintenance, while also reducing the carbon footprint of its flagship Vanderbijlpark works.

Sasol (SSL) is "an undervalued play on the oil price upcycle," JP Research writes in an analysis posted on Seeking Alpha.

Tenova to Provide ArcelorMittal with a 2.5 MTPY DRI Plant

Tenova was recently chosen by ArcelorMittal Dofasco for the design and supply of a hydrogen-ready 2.5 million tonnes per year ENERGIRON direct reduction plant, to be located in Hamilton in Canada. The ENERGIRON technology, jointly developed by Tenova and Danieli, is the most flexible DR technology for virgin metallic unit production in terms of makeup gases utilization and is already designed to maximize the reduction of CO2 emissions.

The ArcelorMittal Dofasco plant will transition away from the blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace steelmaking production route to the Direct Reduced Iron Electric Arc Furnace production route, which carries a significantly lower carbon footprint. The investment will reduce annual CO2?emissions at Hamilton operations by approximately 3 million tonnes, which represents approximately 60% of emissions.

The new ENERGIRON plant will be able to use Natural Gas as reducing agent with the possibility to mix it with hydrogen up to 100%. The plant will have the flexibility to use different reducing gases in any combination or proportion, using the same ENERGIRON ZR scheme.

The technology has the capability to capture and use CO2, which will further reduce the overall plant CO2 emissions and provide an additional revenue stream for the plant operations. The plant will produce hot DRI pellets that will be processed via the proven HYTEMP, a pneumatic transport system, to a new EAF mill to be located next to the ENERGIRON plant.

Minder vraag naar staal voorzien dit jaar

(ABM FN-Dow Jones) De wereldwijde vraag naar staal zal dit jaar met ruim 2 procent krimpen, onder invloed van de hoge inflatie en stijgende rentes, na een groei met bijna 3 procent in 2021. Dat kondigde de World Steel Association woensdag aan.

De raming is een neerwaartse bijstelling.

Voor dit jaar wordt nu een vraag van 1.797 ton staal voorzien. Ook de economische vertraging in China en de gevolgen van de Russische invasie van Oekraïne spelen een rol.

Volgend jaar wordt weer een groei van 1,0 procent voorzien tot 1.815 miljoen ton, door een aantrekkende vraag van infrastructuurprojecten. Vooral de Europese vraag kent nog wel neerwaarts risico’s vanwege de dreigende energiecrisis komende winter.

In China is de vraag naar staal in de eerste acht maanden van het jaar met 6,6 procent gedaald en voor heel 2022 gaat de brancheorganisatie uit van 4 procent krimp. Ook hier zijn nog aanzienlijk neerwaartse risico's aanwezig, waarschuwt World Steel.

Voor de Europese Unie wordt een krimp van 3,5 procent voorzien dit jaar en eveneens krimp in 2023, zo lang de gasaanvoer niet aanzienlijk verbetert, met neerwaarts risico bij een strenge winter, waardoor de gastekorten zouden oplopen.

Voor Amerika voorziet World Steel geen krimp, evenals voor Japan, maar voor Zuid-Korea weer wel.
