Stryker initiated with "neutral"

NEW YORK, March 21 (newratings.com) - Analysts at Credit Suisse initiate coverage of Stryker Corporation (SYK.NYS) with a "neutral" rating. The target price is set to $72.

In a research note published this morning, the analysts mention that the company is likely to generate single-digit growth in the hip and knee replacement in the long term, boosted by continued strength in the Spine and Trauma franchises. According to Credit Suisse, Stryker is likely to generate 20% EPS growth until end-2009 on account of double-digit growth in the top-line across the company’s businesses. The analysts add, however, that there is limited visibility into the company’s orthopedics pipeline.

Amsterdam (BETTEN BEURSMEDIA NEWS) - IsoTis Orthobiologics heeft van het Amerikaanse Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) een octrooi gekregen op zijn Accell-technologie. Dat heeft het biotechnologiebedrijf woensdag bekendgemaakt.

'Dit is een belangrijke stap', zegt een woordvoerder in een toelichting tegen Betten. 'De PTO heeft drie jaar naar de zaak gekeken, en nu is het octrooi binnen.'

De producent van huid-, bot- en kraakbeentransplantaten schrapt begin volgend jaar zijn beursnoteringen in Nederland, Zwitserland en Canada om die te vervangen door een notering op de Amerikaanse Nasdaq.

Wanneer ik dit lees dan hoeft Isotis toch niet te vrezen dat het op kosten wordt gejaagd door "het Call back "verhaal waar in een ander draadje over wordt gesproken?

Isotis heeft toestemming. Waar ligt dan het probleem?

Alleen het verschil in rating 510 of class 2 ?

Als het class2 wordt i.p.v. 510 is er toch niet zo heel veel aan de hand of zie ik dit verkeerd ?

Bedankt voor je reactie ,wish.
Ik denk dat ik het niet helemaal begrijp. Daar heb ik het ook te oppervlakkig voor gelezen.
Mijn interpretatie is dat Isotis veel sneller een clearence kan krijgen via het andere bedrijf c.q. organisatie.
Zo niet, wil ik je vragen om nadere verheldering.

Shares of Regeneration Technologies Inc., which makes orthopedic implants using human tissue, jumped Wednesday after WR Hambrecht & Co. started coverage of the company with a "Buy" rating.

The stock gained 29 cents, or 4 percent, to $7.60 on the Nasdaq Stock Market in afternoon trading. Shares have traded between $4.87 and $8.23 over the last 52 weeks.

Setting a $10 price target, analyst Emily Johnson cited the company's position in the market with the only Food and Drug Administration-approved pharmaceutical-grade tissue sterilization process.

The company also has been increasing its spine and orthopedic revenue with recent distribution partnerships, including one with medical device maker Medtronic Inc., she noted

"We view Regeneration's business model as one that provides the necessary impetus the company requires in the next few quarters to ride the significant leverage it has recently negotiated in the spine, sports medicine and xenograft segments," she said in a note to investors. "In our opinion, the firm is poised for significant and sustainable revenue expansion and near-term profitability."

Importantly, a revised Medtronic deal paves the way for more partnerships, she wrote. Also, the company is seeing growth in its sports medicine business, which accounted for 22 percent of 2006 revenue.

Dat ze een octrooi hebben op de betreffende technologie betekent alleen dat andere bedrijven het niet mogen kopieren.

Doet verder weinig (lees: niets) af aan de FDA discussie. Overigens las ik van de week in het jaarverslag van 2005:

Logisch dus dat de FDA brief dd oktober vorig jaar niet expliciet is gemeld, dit alles was begin 2006 al bekend (ook voor ons dus). Het is naar mijn mening dan ook behoorlijk opgeblazen allemaal.

En wanneer je alles nog eens naleest moet het trouwens wel HEEL vreemd lopen, willen de betreffende producten niet in class II gaan vallen (indien 't class III wordt zou dat ook gevolgen hebben voor veel concurrerende producten).

Wat ik dus echter begrijp is dat ze een 510(k) aanvraag hebben gedaan voor de VOLLEDIGE Accell lijn, die clearance kan derhalve nog wel even op zich laten wachten. Echter wanneer die binnen is, in combinatie met het octrooi..

Met zoveel aandacht de NASDAQ gang aankondigen op dit forum had toch echt een ander vervolg verdient. No hard feelings verder, maar wel een beetje teleurgesteld.

Maar waarom dan schamen ? Hoe hadden ze het dan moeten doen?
Het FDA vehaal was al bekend, de gang naar de Nasaq al veel eerder.
Welke strategie volg je? De opgelopen boete heeft hopelijk ook angst gezaaid.
Ik denk dat het heel complex is allemaal
Ook hebben ze veel voorbereidend werk verricht; Het uitgestelde bonussysteem was half februari al volledig uitgewerkt tot juni.
Dat vind ik knap. Zo snel!( Niet van enig cynisme ontbloot.)

Het komt allemaal goed. Laten we een ieder geven wat het toe komt: Zowel voor aandeelhouders, personeel en directie. ( De volgorde is absoluut willekeurig)(lol)

Alphatec Enhances Technology and Product Portfolio with Global Licensing

CARLSBAD, CA - Alphatec Holdings Inc., a leading medical device company focused on the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of products for the surgical treatment of spine disorders, announced in a Wednesday press release that it has entered into a license agreement with Dr. Roger P. Jackson for the global rights to use certain polyaxial screw, helical flange, and instrumentation technology designed by Jackson.

The technology license enables Alphatec to rapidly develop a second-generation polyaxial pedicle screw system that will be manufactured via a proprietary bottom-loaded process. Terms of the agreement, which were not disclosed, include royalties on net sales of products incorporating the licensed technology.

"After a thorough review of the current intellectual property landscape in the polyaxial screw arena, rigorous product testing and multi-faceted focus group feedback, we are extremely pleased with our agreement with Jackson to license his leading polyaxial screw technology, instruments and methodologies," Senior Vice President M. Ross Simmonds stated.

"This global license agreement further demonstrates our commitment to providing complete product solutions targeted at serving the needs of the spinal disorder marketplace and enables our surgeon customers to have additional technology options while utilizing Alphatec as their trusted spinal medical device partner," he added.

"I am very pleased to have entered into a license agreement with Alphatec Spine, one of the recognized leaders in the development, manufacture, and marketing of products for the surgical treatment of spine disorders," Jackson noted.

"This polyaxial screw technology will enable surgeons to have additional product and technology options in surgery and I am confident that Alphatec is a superbly equipped partner to deliver this technology to the surgeon community and their patients," he added.

The polyaxial screw technology exclusively licensed by Alphatec incorporates a bottom-loaded cam-capture manufacturing process embodied in a pending patent application and certain other proprietary technology owned by Jackson.

Alphatec also acquired the non-exclusive rights to use the helical flange technology developed by Dr. Jackson in conjunction with the polyaxial screw. The helical flange technology pertains to the set screw of the polyaxial screw and contains the proprietary elements embodied in US Patent No. 6,726,689.
