Hello Hans;
Thank you very much for your enquiry.
Let me provide a brief update on Waseco for your consideration.
Over the past few years, we have had two areas of primary interest: a joint venture with AREVA, the world’s largest fully integrated uranium company; and re-assembling an alluvial gold project in Indonesia. I will comment on each project:
Uranium Prospect
Waseco staked a very large land position in the Quebec Labrador trough and optioned the property to AREVA. They have interests in the area and are extremely strong technically. By conducting exploration they have earned a 50% interest in the uranium prospects on the property. Two things make this a unique deal: 1. Waseco retains 100% interest in any metals discovered on the property that is non uranium related; 2. Waseco was the operator. This second element has been quite important as the operator is eligible for tax rebates. This meant that while AREVA was exploring on our property, not only did we gain the benefit of their work, but we also were able to get about $1 Million in rebates. This has allowed us to avoid financings and dilution.
Gold Prospect
Many years ago, we advanced an alluvial gold project in Indonesia to final feasibility. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure production financing due to the collapse in the market. The study showed that gold could be recovered for approximately U.S. $ 136 per ounce, and we could lower this amount further by recovering zircon sands.
With current gold prices on the rise and the political risk improving, we are trying to reassemble parts of the land position. We have also been offered other attractive opportunities in Indonesia which we intend to pursue once we have re-established a base of operations. This is taking longer than anticipated.
Until we have our land base, we are not actively marketing the company. This could change fairly quickly, as we were advised that the initial land position would be provided in December, and now postponed to January. But until it happens, we are impatiently waiting. I think that we have the requisite funds, the technical expertise, and the projects that will have impact in the coming year. I hope that we have positioned the company to take advantage of some excellent opportunities.
If you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours truly,
Waseco Resources Inc.
