Yesterday’s press-release explained
The press-release by Spyker yesterday created a lot of mixed emotions among us fans and I called Victor yesterday to try to get a better grasp on what the whole thing actually was all about. He gave me a pretty clear picture of the whole issue and this is what he said.
First of all this is a long-term strategy move for both companies, it’s not like there is a new phoenix car with a Spyker logo coming out tomorrow, that could potentially happen after 2015 at the earliest.
To achieve this goal, Youngman/Spyker wants to use the parts of the Phoenix platform that Youngman acquired (the two segments explained yesterday) and try to attract as many former Saab engineers as possible and then complete the platform. Remember that the Phoenix platform contained about 10% GM technology in it which will have to be replaced as well, and the platform still needs equivalent about 6 months of work by about 800 Saab engineers to be completed, for Spyker/Youngman not being able to get hold of that many former engineers it will of course take a longer time to complete the work and rebuild the capabilities again. Whats also missing is about 140 million Euro’s worth of funding which Youngman is said to provide.
Spyker, however, are not under pressure to deliver by a certain day and don’t have the burden of a factory which is not producing cars.
Once the platform is finished in the way specified above, Youngman/Spyker will have the means to produce a brand new range of cars which could potentially pick up where Saab left off…
The agreement yesterday was the first step to achieve the goal specified above.

Nu gaan Jan, Pieter, Kees, Ping en Ling proberen om daar een volledige auto van te maken.
Het is maar goed dat er geen 'druk' achter zit, want dit kan wel eens een heel lang verhaal gaan worden.
