A new building for research, development and education is being built at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Mölndal. Imtech Nordic has obtained the contract to install the electricity and safety systems in this building, which will have a high environmental profile. The aim is to have the building certificated in accordance with Miljöbyggnad (Environmental Building) Gold level.
The new building will have six floors: a cellar/underground tunnel and five floors above ground. The surface area will be around 7,000 square metres. In total some 200 million Swedish krona is being invested.
Track record in Care & Cure
Imtech has undertaken various hospital contracts in recent years and this played a significant part in its obtaining this contract. Regional Director, Fredrik Allthin, explains that competency, quality and experience with other hospital projects counted for a lot. ‘As far as installation is concerned, hospital systems are often extremely complex and it is good that we have already worked on similar projects,’ he said.’ Installation works will start in February 2015 and the entire project is to be completed by the summer of 2016.
‘Together with ÅF, the constructor selected by the client, we started with project preparations and we are now busy developing the technical solutions,’ says Fredrik. ‘Our task is to develop visions and ideas to devise smart solutions from an assembly perspective. Together with ÅF we aim to find long-term solutions for the customer and users, based on the user perspective and LCC analyses.
’Imtech’s implementer is the branch in Västra Frölunda, which obtained the contract.
