About INTC and MBLY:
It is difficult to see the rationale behind INTC's acquisition of MBLY. Why pay 15B (almost 10% of your marketcap) for a dwarf that adds less than 1% to your revenue and net profit?
Admittedly, MBLY showed rising revenues and good profits, but its p/e was already far stretched before INTC's bid (one-third above MBLY's previous stock price). This can only be justified if you believe that MBLY will continue its fast growth for at least a couple of years. And there is my doubt.
Sure, MBLY produces nice cameras for cars (collision avoidance, parking) but that in itself is not a very fast growing industry, at least not for long.
The second reason for MBLY's popularity is (or was) their underlying vision software and REM technology for navigation and precise vehicle (in-lane) localisation. This may be promising for future forms of HAD and SDC, but at present it is hard to tell which forms and which technology will eventually be successful. And there is fierce competition within the HAD world, not only from other tier-1 or 2 suppliers, but also from car manufacturers themselves.
Finally, there may be some relations between the products and technologies of INTC and MBLY, but do you see a really strong synergy that no one can deny or compete with?
@groeibriljant:
