Altice enters into agreement for sale of international voice carrier unit
Telecoms and cable company Altice is continuing to dispose of non-core assets as it seeks to reduce leverage and improve its financial position.
Altice said on Monday that it has entered into exclusivity with Tofane Global, a Paris-based telecommunications and digital company, for the sale of its international wholesale voice carrier business in France, Portugal and the Dominican Republic. The size of the deal was not disclosed.
Altice is selling assets as part of a back-to-basics programme at the group, whose shares have more than halved since November as investors have expressed concerns about its €50bn mountain of debt and slowness in turning around performance at SFR, in its largest market of France.
In December Altice agreed to sell its telecommunications solutions business and data centre operations in Switzerland to InfraVia Capital Partners. It is also seeking a buyer for its network in the Dominican Republic and has decided to spin off its US business and restructure its European operations.
Tofane was set up in 2017 by Alexandre Pébereau, the former chief executive of Orange International Carriers.
