Hallo,

Mvg,

Gert.

Van een andere Yahoo poster...

Basically we are a 20.00 stock without a China Base. With it we could be triple that, especially with M4$.. So don't let a vague article, written by a BODOG CONFERENCE SPEAKER keep you from missing 7-bucks a share at the least!! Also article (in question) refers to illegal, non tax abiding internet crooks... Not Publicly Traded Icons like our Golden Find GIGM.... Never doubt your choice on this one, they dont come often.

Mvg,

Gert.

De onzekerheid over een eventuele ban van buitenlandse online gaming/gambling operators door Frankrijk en Duitsland lijkt voor een groot deel weggenomen te zijn vandaag:

Online Gambling Investors Just Got a Royal Straight Flush in EU Court
Onlinecasino.org News | 06.03.2007 | 04:19:39 | Views: 299 | Casino News

Online gambling, online casino and online poker investors/firms like Unibet
, partygaming, cryptologic, playtech, bwin just got a money making
royal straight flush from the The European Court of Justice Europe's highest court

According to (Bloomberg) few minutes ago:

March 6 Italy can't use criminal law to stop online gambling companies licensed in other European Union nations, including the U.K.'s Stanley Leisure Plc, from taking bets in the country, Europe's highest court ruled.

The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg ruled today that Italian legislation that prohibited publicly traded companies from obtaining gaming licenses placed restrictions ``on the freedom to provide services'' in the EU. Italian authorities had threatened to prosecute Stanley employees who ran gaming shops.

State-run monopolies in countries including France and Germany have been criticized by companies including Ladbrokes Plc for blocking their cross-border online gaming business. The court decision may affect online gambling and sports betting in the EU's 50 billion-euro ($66 billion) gambling industry.

``Overall this is very good now for the gaming operators,'' said Lode van Den Hende, a lawyer in the Brussels office of Herbert Smith.

The prohibition to use criminal law applies in particular in cases where overseas betting companies were refused the required license by the country, as was the case for Stanley, the court ruled.

Massimiliano Placanica and two other people who operated shops in Italy where people could place online bets with Stanley, faced criminal charges under Italian law because Stanley didn't have a local gaming license. Stanley argued its U.K. license should be recognized by all EU countries.

`Landmark' Decision

``The Italian criminal penalties for the collecting of bets by intermediaries acting on behalf of foreign companies are contrary,'' to EU rules, an 11-judge panel of the court said.

Stanley said this was a ``landmark'' decision that will put pressure on governments and the European Commission to end national protectionism.

``We think it's time that the commission and national lawmakers act now to end this protectionism,'' said Adrian Morris, deputy director-general of Stanley.

Shares of online gaming companies including Austrian Web bookmaker Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG climbed after the decision. Stock in Bwin, rose as much as 4.60 euros, or +18 percent, to 29.60 euros in Vienna.

National Courts

The tribunal today left it to the national courts to decide whether by restricting the number of operators in the gaming and betting industry in the country.

A court aide in an advisory opinion last year said that betting companies licensed in one EU country should be able to operate in any EU country. A license from another EU country showing that a company meets local requirements there, should be ``a sufficient guarantee of the integrity of the operator,'' Advocate General Dámaso Ruiz-Jarabo Colomer said May 16, 2006.

Harmonized Rules

Today's ruling may help clarify some of the confusion created by the lack of harmonized gambling rules in Europe. Finding EU-wide agreement on the issue would solve many problems related to online gambling, Colomer said in his advisory opinion in May. The EU court handles the case under two EU common market principles determining companies' freedom of establishment and to provide services in the EU.

The European Commission last year started probing 10 EU countries including Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and France for discrimination by barring rivals from offering the same services as their state lotteries. They face being taken to the EU court depending on the outcome of the investigation.

Unibet Group Plc advanced as much as 12 kronor, or 7.1 percent, to 1890 kronor in Stockholm. The company sponsors a professional cycling team whose members were barred last month by the organizers of a French race from wearing uniforms that displayed Unibet's Web site address.

Sportingbet Plc, the online bookmaker that owns Paradise Poker, advanced as much as 2.75 pence, or 5.6 percent, to 51.75 pence in London. Gaming VC Holdings SA, a Web casino company that gets most of its sales from Germany and Austria, rose as much as 7 pence, or 6.8 percent, to 110 pence.

The case numbers are C-338/04, C-359/04, C-360/04 Procuratore della Repubblica v Massimiliano Placanica, Christian Palazzese and Angelo Sorrichio Placanica. <

Petter Nylander, CEO Unibet said "We are very pleased to see that the Court has taken a firm stance, and in this way has declared that Member States with monopoly legislation are discriminating against private online gambling operators."

"Unibet welcomes this judgement which will accelerate the break up of the existing monopolies in Europe. We are now all looking forward to the creation of a new, modern gambling market within EU. The time for monopolies is over," says Petter Nylander, CEO Unibet.

A very good day for online gambling firms like Unibet (UNIB.ST), partygaming, cryptologic inc (CRYP), playtech (PTEC.L) , bwin (BWIN)

GigaMedia Limited ("GigaMedia" or the "Company") (Nasdaq: GIGM - News) announced today strong full-year 2006 results, with consolidated net profit climbing 386 percent to a record $30.8 million, driven by a fourth-quarter 2006 consolidated net profit of $9.9 million up 52 percent from the third quarter.

Record revenues in our poker software business combined with growing contributions from our Asian online games business and consequent expansion in our consolidated operating margin drove the best-ever annual and quarterly financial performance.

"GigaMedia's net profit grew over four times in 2006, a great year by any standard," stated Chief Executive Officer Arthur Wang. "And our record fourth- quarter operating results and recent strategic developments point to an even stronger 2007."

"Our excellent financial results in 2006 tell only half the story: perhaps more important, 2006 was a year of key strategic accomplishments," stated CEO Arthur Wang. "We now have built by organic investment a leading pan-European online entertainment brand -- and by acquisition, an enormous pan-Asian online game platform with over 50 million registered users."

"We are seeing but the early returns from our investments and strategic steps to build a dominant online entertainment business," explained CEO Arthur Wang. "As such, we are looking to deliver tremendous shareholder value in 2007 and beyond."

Consolidated Financial Results

Financial results for 2006 incorporate the results of leading Asian online casual games portal FunTown, which we acquired in January 2006. Financial results for 2006 also reflect the sale of our ADSL business in the second quarter. As a result, financial results for 2006 and 2005 periods may not be comparable.
