Iran's gas condensate exports up 76%
Tehran Times reported that exports of gas condensate from Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in the Iranian southern port of Assaluyeh rose by 76% in the first Iranian calendar month of Farvardin compared to the same period in the last year.
Some 611,655 tonne of gas condensate valued at USD 541.8 million has been exported from the zone, IRNA quoted the managing director of the PSEEZ customs office as said that on Sunday April 28th 2013.
Ahmad Pour Heidar also put the value of over 1.262 million tonne of exported light and heavy polyethylene, gas condensate, propane, butane, benzene, and paraxylene at USD 987.467 million.
The official said that “The exports have increased by 1% in weight and 16% in value.”
According to Pour Heidar, China, Japan, the UAE, India, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Turkey, Romania, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Afghanistan were the main markets for the exported goods.
Iran, which sits on the world's second largest natural gas reserves after Russia, has been trying to enhance its gas production by increasing foreign and domestic investments, especially in its South Pars gas field.
Iran’s South Pars, which is part of a larger gas field shared with Qatar, is divided into 24 phases and holds about 14 trillion cubic meters of gas or about 8% of the total world reserves and more than 18 billion barrels of liquefied natural gas resources
