Parcels a probem says UBS
Structural problems with its parcels arm have prompted UBS to downgrade Royal Mail Group PLC (LON:RMG) to a 'sell'.
Growth will be affected by its need to modernise said the Swiss broker, a fact illustrated by the relatively high prices it charges for heavier parcels via a labour intensive operation.
UBS sees underlying revenue growth of just 1% in both of the next two years, with a sluggish UK economy likely to add to its headaches.
This will affect letter volumes and with the possibility of strike action over the pension fund forecasts at present are very uncertain, though UBS has cut its earnings forecast by 3% this year and by 15% the following.
