'Westen voert economische oorlog tegen Iran'

Iran to reduce price for gas imported to Turkey

According to a claim presented to the International Arbitration Court by Turkey, Iran could reduce the price for gas imported to Turkey by 10%.

Mr Taner Yildiz Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources said that the issue of the price for Iranian gas could be settled within a year. Previously, Turkey filed a case to the International Arbitration Court against Iran to set a challenge for price for gas imported to the country. Iran and Turkey have signed an agreement on the annual supply of 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey in 1996.

According to statistical data of the Botas state pipeline company, Turkey imported 39.7 billion cubic meters of gas in 2011. Russia ranks first among gas exporters to Turkey, followed by Iran and Azerbaijan.

Japan to cut 30pct Iran crude imports

Reuters cited Mr Yasushi Kimura president of the Petroleum Association of Japan as saying that Japan, a major buyer of Iranian crude is set to import about 30% less crude oil from Iran for the rest of this year compared with a year earlier.

The trade ministry's data showed that Japan, the world's third biggest oil consumer imported 101,035 barrels per day of crude from Iran in August down 66.8% from a year earlier.

Mr Yasushi Kimura said that the steep YoY fall in August was caused by certain shipping arrangements and should be considered an exception. Japan had 1 month hiatus in acceptance in July in light of European Union sanctions on Tehran aimed at pressuring the Islamic Republic over its disputed nuclear program.

Mr Kimura said that Japan as a whole is cutting Iranian crude imports by about 30% now like the numbers seen between January and June. We expect this level of imports to continue for the rest of the year. How much Japan buys beyond December will depend on geopolitical and economic situations at the time when each buyer decides on next annual contracts with Iran.

Mr Kimura who also serves as chairman of Japan's top oil refiner, JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation said that his company has covered a drop in supply from Iran with crude from other countries in the Middle East and extra condensate imports.

Iran to expand with natural gas storage facilities

Trend News Agency cited Mr Massoud Samivand MD of Natural Gas Storage Company as saying that Iran will be able to store 110 million cubic meters of gas daily when it completes several storage projects. The Phase I of a project designed to store gas underground in the Qom region's Sarajeh area is operational.

Mr Samivand said that Work on Kashan's Nasrabad underground storage facility and Khorasan Province's Shourijeh facility will also be launched. Upon completion of 5 to 6 projects, Iran's gas storage capacity will grow to 110 million cubic meters making it possible for the country to have a greater share in global gas sales.

Sarajeh, which is the first natural gas storage project in Iran and the Middle East is going to be launched in a short run. The facility will have the capacity to store 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas in its first phase and 3.3 billion cubic meters in its Phase II.

More than USD 200 billion is needed to invest in exploitation of Iran's gas projects. Greater stability in Iran's exports and a sustained supply of gas in the winter are two major outcomes of the storage facilities.

Iran to build an oil exporting pipeline to Afghanistan

Trend News Agency cited Mr Fada Hossein Maleki head of the Office of the Campaign against Smuggling Goods and Foreign Currency as saying that Iran will be building a pipeline to export oil to Afghanistan.

Mr Maleki said that upon the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers, the pipeline to Afghanistan will be built from Iran's Dogharoon city to Afghan city of Eslam Qaleh. The construction of such pipeline will reduce possibility of fuel products smuggling and aside from that, the commission for transition will be much lower. The Iran and Afghanistan pipeline will help to avoid long queues along the border of the two countries.

He said that the pipeline would be of some 1500 meters in length. Currently, there is a special economic zone established in Dogharoon that stores Iran's fuel tanks and fuel products for exports. The constructed pipeline from Iran to Afghanistan would allow exporting products and oil directly from the storages.
