Iran may use oil as a tool against West - Iranian lawmaker

Mr Masoud Mirkazemi lawmaker and former oil minister of Iran has warned that the Western countries Iran may use energy as a political tool against them if they seek to use it as such against the Islamic Republic.

Mr Majlis the chairman of Iran’s Energy Committee said that “The Westerners should know that if they want to use this tool for political purposes the possibility exists that one day this tool will be used against them and then they will suffer. Iran’s oil sales continue and if European countries do not buy our country’s oil there are numerous other countries that are buyers.”

The Iranian lawmaker said that if the sanctions could have affected Iran’s oil exports they would have had the effect by now but the country’s crude sales have never stopped.

On October 15th 2012 EU foreign ministers agreed on a new round of sanctions against Iran in spite of a UN warning against the humanitarian ramifications of the bans that had already been imposed. The illegal US engineered sanctions were imposed based on the unfounded allegation that Iran is pursuing non civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Iran rejects the allegations arguing that as a committed signatory to the Non Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Iran Majlis mulls tit for tat motion to cut oil exports in half

Press TV reported that the Iranian parliament is studying a motion to oblige the Islamic Republic to reduce its oil exports in retaliation for the European sanctions against the country’s energy sector a lawmaker says.

Mr Seyyed Mehdi Mousavinejad member of Majlis Energy Committee said that this motion will in the first stage require the government to cut oil exports and in case of tighter sanctions envisages complete halt of oil exports. Unfortunately our enemies are exploiting oil as a means against the Islamic Republic establishment in order to ratchet up economic pressure on people. When we see the Western world is using oil in this way it would be natural for US to stop them.

Mr Mousavinejad said that “We must take action by stopping oil exports to European and other countries and in the same way that they use this tool against the establishment we have to take reciprocal action against the evil arrogant current and are fully ready to do so On the one hand they ban our oil while on the other, they send their private companies to US and announce time and again and they desperately need Iran’s oil.

Mr Rostam Qasemi oil minister of Iran that Tehran would halt oil exports if more sanctions were imposed on the country. At the beginning of 2012 the United States and the European Union imposed new sanctions on Iran’s oil and financial sectors to prevent other countries from purchasing Iranian oil and conducting transactions with the Central Bank of Iran. The sanctions entered into force in early summer 2012.

Iran to invest USD 40 billion in oil sector by March 2013

Tehran Times cited Mr Rostam Qasemi oil minister of Iran as saying that up to USD 40 billion will be invested in the domestic oil sector by the end of the current Iranian calendar year.

Last year, USD 30 billion was invested in the oil sector. The figure was just USD 13 billion to USD 15 billion in the year to March 2011. The country’s daily oil output should reach 5.5 million barrels and daily gas output should amount to 1.4 billion cubic meters by 2015.

Mr Qasemi said in August 2011 that the oil industry's infrastructure needs more than IRR 500 trillion of investment annually to achieve objectives of the 20 Year Outlook Plan which ends in 2025.

He said that Iran is investing USD 100 billion to boost its oil and gas production. As part of a new government policy to boost energy production we are currently investing USD 100 billion in new oil and gas exploration and production.

Iran producing 25 million liters of premium gasoline per day

Tehran Times Mr Alireza Zeighami MD of National Iranian Oil Production and Distribution Company as saying that Iran is currently producing 25 million liters of premium gasoline per day meeting euro-4 and euro-5 standards.

He said that the country’s gasoline output is projected to hit 70 million liters per day by the end of the next Iranian calendar year 1392. Diesel oil output will reach 95 million liters per day by the end of the current Iranian year of which 25 million liters meet euro-4 and euro-5 standards.

Mr Zeighami said that in May that gasoline production units at the Imam Khomeini, Shazand, Abadan, Tondgouyan and Lavan refineries will be put into operation by the end of the year. Iran exported over 132,000 tonnes of gasoline worth around USD 134 million last year.

According to Customs Administration data the gasoline exports rose by 127% in value and 108.5% in volume, respectively, compared to the year before. Armenia, Afghanistan, the UAE, Iraq and Oman were the destinations for Iranian gasoline.

Iranian gasoline imports have slumped by as much as 95% over the last four years according to official government data as rising refinery capacity and lower fuel subsidies help neutralize Western sanctions aimed at starving Tehran of fuel.

Fuel shortage will grow without Iran - US Energy Department

Daily Star quoted US Energy Department as saying that excluding Iran from the global oil market would increase the shortfall between worldwide supply and demand based on September and October production and consumption estimates Global fuel use averaged 2.4 million barrels a day more than output over the two months when Iran is excluded from the calculations and 600,000 barrels less than production when Iran is included the department’s

The examination of oil and fuel supplies and prices with and without Iran was prepared to help guide President Mr Barack Obama’s administration in determining the feasibility of imposing sanctions related to Iranian oil trades through its central bank.

OPEC spare oil production capacity dropped 26% in September and October compared with same period a year earlier the report showed. The 12 members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries had an average 2 million barrels a day spare capacity during the two months down from 2.7 million in 2011.

Iran condensate exports from South Pars exceed USD 1 billion in 1 month

Press TV cited Mr Ahmad Pour Heidar director of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone as saying that Iran has exported more than 1 billion dollars worth of gas condensate from the giant offshore South Pars gas field in the month ending October 21st 2012.

Non oil and condensate exports from South Pars weighed nearly 2 million tonnes valued at over one billion dollars showing respective increases of 14 and 5% in terms of weight and value compared to the same period of last Iranian calendar year ended March 19th 2012.

Meanwhile, Mr Mohsen Khojasteh a deputy oil minister of Iran said that tens of billions of dollars have been invested in South Pars development projects. South Pars holds eight percent of the world’s and half of Iran’s natural gas reserves adding PSEEZ is the biggest industrial complex and the most significant value chain in the oil industry whose development guarantees the country’s future economic growth.

Mr Mousa Souri MD of Pars Oil and Gas Company said that earlier this month Iran’s natural gas production from South Pars gas field would hit 800 million cubic meters per day before the end of 2015 which will exceed the neighboring Qatar’s output from the field.

Iran and Syria swap fuels as both aim to dodge sanctions

Reuters reported that Iran and Syria have arranged a gasoline for diesel swap helping each other overcome international sanctions that have cut them off from fuel supplies needed to keep their economies afloat and support their armies.

Tracking data shows that a tanker from Iran arrived in Syria with a cargo of fuel and a shipper who works in the region said Iran was delivering diesel to Syria in return for gasoline.

US and European Union sanctions have virtually ground Syria's trade in oil and refined products to a halt while Iran is struggling to sell its crude as buyers around the world cut purchases.

Syria's economy has been strangled by a lack of diesel needed to power heavy vehicles and machinery used in industries and farming. Iran's rial faced collapse earlier this month in a sign that economic pressure on the government is building and that oil sales to some of its best customers are in decline.

An Iranian oil tanker called the Hillari arrived in the port of Banias a week ago and delivered a 34,500 tonnes cargo of gasoil an industry term for diesel. While both countries are oil exporters they lack the capacity to refine certain types of fuel.

Syria's light crude means it produces more gasoline and naphtha than it needs freeing up volumes for export. Iran's sour crude by contrast, is easily refined into heavier fuels such as diesel, leaving it short of gasoline to run vehicles. As a result the countries are perfectly matched to swap fuels.

Exxon Mobil wil uit Iraaks samenwerkingsproject met Shell stappen

BAGHDAD (Dow Jones)--Exxon Mobil Corp.

Iran verbiedt import make-up, juwelen, computers en gsm's

Iran remains electricity exporter despite sanctions

Press TV reported that Iran is a net exporter of electric power and currently exports electricity to neighboring states including Armenia, Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq and Afghanistan.

A specialized energy website has acknowledged the ineffectiveness of international sanctions against the Islamic Republic saying Iran continues to remain a net exporter of electricity.

The Oilprice.com said in an article that sanctions imposed by the United Nations Security Council, European Union and the United States have failed to hinder Iran’s electricity exports.

There is one sector of Iran’s energy industry that is flourishing electricity exports. And this trade, lucrative as it is, stymies Washington’s efforts to squeeze Iran’s economy because in 4 out of 5 instances, the trade is with US allies.

The US government’s Energy Information Administration said that Iran is a net exporter of electric power and currently exports electricity to neighboring states including Armenia, Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Iran’s rising electrical exports to its neighbors present Washington policymakers hawkish on Iran with the unpleasant reality that the nations importing Iranian electricity are all involved to a lesser or greater degree with regional US military policies, whose cooperation could be endangered if the American administration pressured them too far to downgrade their energy relations with Tehran.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program. Under pressure from Washington, the United Nations Security Council has imposed four rounds of sanctions against the Islamic Republic. The Security Council's measure was followed by a series of illegal unilateral embargoes against Iran by the US and the European Union.

Iran lifts ban on exports of petrochemicals

MNA reported that Mr Rostam Qasemi oil minister of Iran has lifted a ban on the export of petrochemicals and issued an order detailing new regulations for petrochemical exports.

Previously, Iranian Organization for Supporting Consumers and Producers announced that the administration has banned the export of petrochemical products including polymers as a measure to support national production.

The list which included polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and PET was part of the 50 industrial and agricultural products restricted for export sales.

The US and Europe recently stepped up sanctions against Iran in an attempt to curb its nuclear program. The West accuses the Islamic Republic of trying to build nuclear weapons but Tehran says generating electricity is the sole aim of its nuclear program.

Mr Abdolhossein Bayat deputy oil minister of Iran said that Iran exported roughly USD 6 billion worth of petrochemical exports in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20. The figure is projected to exceed USD 15 billion by the end of the Iranian calendar year which ends on March 20th 2013.

Last year, Iran exported 16.2 million tonnes of petrochemical products to 60 countries around the world. Europe and China were the main recipients of Iran's petrochemical exports, followed by Southeast Asia, the Middle East, the Subcontinent, Africa and Latin America.
