Europa moet een pokerspel spelen waarbij Putin bakzeil haalt en onderuit wordt gehaald door zijn eigen administratie vazallen en oliegarchen.
Iets meer dan 70% van de gas- en olie inkomsten vloeien af naar die kliek en verdere overheidsorganen.
Bij economische sancties wordt Europa getroffen maar zij nog meer.
In dat pokerspel zou Putin het onderspit delven en het daarom nooit zover laten komen.
Die gok is de democratie een kans te geven in de Oekraine de moeite waard en De Krim te behouden.
Moed tonen dat is wat me moeten !

Lijkt mij ook, nu aan en doorpakken, zonder klanten geen geld voor het gas, we kopen nu onze eigen ondergang.
Bovendien op de langere duur krijgen we toch te doen met Ukraine die geen gas meer krijgt of ze betalen of niet, zij zullen niet nalaten de doorvoer zéér zwaar te belasten of dicht te draaien.
Macht om dit tegen te gaan heeft Putin niet, zij zullen direct alles opblazen als Putin binnenvalt, wij moeten doorpakken we zitten nu in het voorjaar en hebben alle tijd andere wegen in te slaan.

Als Putin een goed strateeg was geweest dat had hij aansluiting met Europa moeten zoeken in plaats van verwijdering.
Dan had hij zijn gehele volk moeten laten delen in de inkomsten van gas en olie en een deel daarvan moeten gebruiken voor innovatie want de Russen zijn net zoals de Sachsen ook technisch aangelegd, ze kunnen het.

Maar ja als je niet transparant wil zijn om je eigen kliek en poen te beschermen dan komt het daar niet van.
Het Russische volk heeft dat nog niet voldoende door.

Devaluating Ukrainian currency gives cutting edge to steel mills

Ukraine has been in the eye of storm recently for political and economic reasons. The removal of President Viktor Yanukovych on corruption charges has not only lead to political unrest but incurred the wrath of European and Global financial institutions tightening credit supplies to the economy . It is learnt that EU countries have frozen assets of the erstwhile president.

Political upheaval had economic casualties with the UAH taking severe flogging losing 9% within a month raising hackles and panic buttons being pressed by the National Bank to arrest steep slide. NBU to make an intervention and the regulator appropriated another UAH 4 billion to the banks, which caused the exchange rate to surge. However it is unlikely that the tottering currency can hold on for long with depleting reserve of the NBU. It won’t be surprising if the slide becomes irreversible. UAH valuation is expected to attain momentary break around UAH 12 = 1 USD.

Ukraine has been primarily export hub for steel products catering nearly 76% of its produce. Semis, long and flat from Ukraine have ruled the roost in Middle East and Europe. Not surprisingly depreciating currency will be boon for these mills who pay input cost in local currency whereas realize exports in USD. According to one estimate steel mills producting billet have been able to save nearly USD 104-116 per tonne. It has given the mills a big leap in cost advantage and cutting edge in export market.

Billet price levels have been depressed recently with FOB levels hovering around USD 485-490 per tonne. Turmoil in Turkish economy has led to collapse in scrap levels having cascading impact on billet price also as Turkey is major importer of Black Sea, billets. Even though mills have been able to realize better price in Saudi Arabia but the bulk bookings in UAE and Turkey has been elusive. Even the European traders are falling shy owing to domestic levels being more competitive.

Ukrainian mills have been getting their mills loaded m-o-m at low rates. They would be also eager to ward off competition from Chinese , Japanese and Korean mills in the Middle Eastern theatre with aggressive pricing in both flat and long products. Even though Russian Rouble has also lost heavily and would up the ante on Ukrainian but they cater to different segments and export availability from Russia is question mark with domestic demand picking up during summer.

However greed for volume can play second fiddle to better realization as long as order bills are getting filled. It is unlikely that a price war will break out at this stage since that would be catastrophic for the mills since most of the Middle Eastern region is expanding capacity and domestic availability is improving. Recently signals of mills trying to push through USD 10-15 per tonne hike in price for billets. However the market has not reacted favourably and mills are finding difficult to transact. In fight to finish definitely Black Sea mills have cutting edge over others it will be question of how much how far since demand continues to be sluggish. Utmost price cut would be in a band of USD 10-20 per tonne in short term.

Russia to end discount on gas sales to Ukraine

With military tensions running high between Russia and Ukraine, Moscow is increasing economic pressure on the debt ridden Kyiv government.

Russia said that starting next month it will end the 33% discount on the natural gas it has been selling to the one time Soviet state.

Russia's Gazprom said that it is halting the discount because Ukraine has failed to pay its natural gas bill and owes the energy company more than USD 1.5 billion.

Mr Vladimir Putin President of Russia said that the gas price increase has nothing to do with the standoff in Ukraine's Crimean peninsula. He said that "We gave them money. They failed to deliver."

Gazprom offered Ukraine a USD 3 billion loan to cover the debt. The French news agency reported the European Union will offer to give Ukraine USD 2 billion to pay the gas bill as part of an economic package it is working on to aid Kyiv.

Ukraine said that it is running out of money and needs USD 35 billion over the next 2 years to pay its bills.

Ik ben de Cuba crisis nog niet vergeten en als dit evenement zich gaat herhalen dan zal het jullie nog dun door de broek lopen!
Dus pleit ik voor de-escalatie en zo niet dan begin maar als zo snel als mogelijk een flinke atoomvrije schuilkelder in de achtertuin te installeren want bovengronds heb je geen schijn van kans meer om te overleven!

Ukraine crisis could push gas users towards coal or renewables - Analysts

Analysts said that the Ukrainian political crisis could push natural gas users into the arms of coal or lead to “gas versus LNG” competition.

Last week President Yanukovych fled capital Kiev for Moscow after violent clashes between police and thousands of protestors.

This morning Russian soldiers reportedly fired warning shots over the heads of Ukrainian troops in Crimea, the pro-Russian peninsula on the northern coast of the Black Sea.

While the stand off appeared to have eased today, heightened tensions saw gas prices for April delivery spike nearly 10% yesterday.

Mr Andy Brogan, oil and gas expert at global consultancy EY said that it has pushed users to look at alternatives for gas.

Mr Brogan said that “There’s an element of anticipating [the security of supply issue] by different pipes that are bypassing Ukraine but the other thing is that it’s definitely going to make people look for other supplies.”

He said that anybody buying gas in Europe will likely be looking at alternatives and this may lead to a real risk of gas on gas competition.

He added that “The German utilities, French utilities even the Polish utilities. They can still all seek to increase the LNG part of their gas consumption. Whether that means they start building more terminals or can increase the size of terminals already there.”

IMF boekt vooruitgang in Oekraïne

KIEV (AFN) - Het Internationaal Monetair Fonds (IMF) boekt vooruitgang bij de onderhandelingen met de nieuwe autoriteiten in Kiev over een noodpakket van 15 miljard dollar (10,8 miljard euro) dat het land hoopt te ontvangen. Dat liet de directeur van de Europese afdeling van het IMF, Reza Moghadam, vrijdag weten na een bezoek aan Kiev.

Volgens Moghadam werden productieve gesprekken gevoerd met de premier en zijn economische team. Hij gaf aan dat het IMF klaarstaat om Oekraïne te helpen en het economische hervormingsprogramma te ondersteunen. De IMF-directeur sprak tijdens zijn bezoek onder andere ook met het hoofd van de Oekraïense centrale bank.

Deze week is een team van het IMF in Kiev aangekomen. Oekraïne zou heel spoedig een eerste tranche noodhulp van 3 miljard dollar willen hebben van het IMF. De nieuwe regering in Kiev heeft al gewaarschuwd dat het land financieel aan de grond zit.

On the contrary, more forces are being accumulated near the Ukrainian border. Under the pretext of training, Artillery Regiment N943 (armed with "Uragan" [Hurricane] multiple-launch rocket systems), has been deployed from Maykop district to Zhelezny Rog cape (Taman).

There is also a general increase in the activity of the Russian Armed Forces in the North Caucasus region. Today, a Russian military helicopter breached Georgian air space, from the side of Russian-occupied South Ossetia.

Ze krijgen wel les in verdeel en heers, maar de Krim is de grens. Zoniet, dan voorzie ik meer ellende. Overigens Poetin is geen achterlijke alcoholist, maar een alfa-man met bèta-trekjes, die z'n plannetje in dit geval uitstekend uitwerkt. Het zal de wereld scherp houden. Sterker nog, er ontstaat een derde machtsfactor. Iets wat m.i. goed is om USA een beetje in te tomen. Het land met de bijbel, en democratie zoals het hen uitkomt.
